Murray State head baseball coach Dan Skirka announced the team's 2018 fall schedule, Tuesday, which includes a couple of home games, as well as scrimmages on Homecoming Weekend.
With the first official team practice taking place on September 20, the Racers will play scrimmages on the 21st and 23rd before diving into game action the following week on September 28, when they take on Rend Lake Community College at Reagan Field at 4 p.m.
On October 14, Murray State will play their second game of the fall, this time at noon against Frontier Community College, also at Reagan Field.
While still getting a feel for his team in his first year, Skirka knows these two games will provide important feedback as they get ready for the 2019 season and beyond.
"We wanted to take advantage of the two free games allowed by NCAA and use them to our advantage with recruiting," said Skirka. "Therefore, we called a couple junior colleges that we feel will push us on the field, while also allowing us to take a good look at their players and how they stack up against our talent."
On Homecoming Weekend, which takes place on October 26-28, the Racers will provide two more opportunities for fans and alumni to see the team in action, as they will scrimmage on Friday evening and Sunday morning at Reagan Field.
