Coombs & Bagwell Aid Solid Start For Racers At EKU Intercollegiate

The Murray State men's golf team got off to a solid start Saturday at the EKU Intercollegiate at The University Club at Arlington in Richmond, Kentucky with a spot in fourth place through 36 holes.
The final round is set for Sunday for the field of 15 schools.
The Racers posted scores of 286 and 288 for a 574 total, which gave them a share of fourth place with Cleveland State and put them three shots from third place Morehead State (571). Eastern Michigan was the leader at 557 and host Eastern Kentucky was in second place at 563.
MSU's Connor Coombs and Dalton Bagwell led the way for the Racers with a share of 22nd place. Coombs had scores of 73-70=143 and Bagwell posted scores of 70-73=143. Gabe Wheeler was in 27th place on rounds of 72-72=144, while Quinn Eaton had a spot in 75th place after scores of 81-73=154. MSU's Austin Knight scored a 71 in the opening round, but withdrew from the second round.
Playing in the field of 94 competitors as an individual, MSU's Justin Wendling fired rounds of 74-77=151 and had a spot in 62nd place.
SIUE's Kyle Slattery, playing as an individual for the Cougars, had the round of the day with a 6-under 64 in the second round. He grabbed a share of the lead with EKU's Billy Basham and Ty Celone of Eastern Michigan.
The University Club at Arlington is playing to a par-70 and a distance of 6,623 yards.
