The Murray State women's golf team heads south for the Chris Banister Classic Sunday through Tuesday (Sept. 23-25) at Silver Springs Golf Course in Glencoe, Alabama.
The order of play calls for 18 holes a day from Sunday to Tuesday with groups playing from the first and ninth tees beginning at 7:30 a.m. in the first and third rounds and from the first tee in the second round.
Coming off a third place showing at the Payne Stewart Memorial in Springfield, Missouri, the Racers send out a starting five that includes senior Linette Holmslykke
, who tied for medalist honors in Springfield with scores of 69-71-72=212. A year ago, Holmslykke was MSU's top player a the Banister Classic with a spot in third place on scores of 74-75-71=220. Jane Watts

The Racers enter the event as back-to-back champions after they carded a Banister Classic record 1-under-par 287 in the first round in 2017. The Racers ended up winning the title in 2017 with a score of 898 which was good for a 12-shot win over host Jacksonville State. MSU's 2016 title saw them post an event record total score of 887. With visits to Silver Springs for a fourth-straight year, the Racers also played here 2012 and 2008 and have never finished worse than fifth in their previous five appearances in the event. is the only MSU player to win the medalist title, which she accomplished in 2016 with scores of 71-74-70=215.
The Silver Springs Golf Course is part of Alabama's Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail and will play to a par-72 and 6,058 yards.
