Racers Play Stunning Paris Landing At Skyhawk Classic

The Murray State men's golf team gets going Monday at the UTM Skyhawk Classic at Paris Landing State Park in Buchanan, Tennessee.

The Racers enter Monday ready for 36 holes of competition with junior Avery Edwards back in the lineup for the first time since injury cost him the later part of the spring schedule. Edwards will play from the fifth spot in Coach Eddie Hunt's lineup. Austin Knight, third in the Ohio Valley Conference with a 69.8 scoring average, will play from the first spot with Dalton Bagwell, Gabe Wheeler and Connor Coombs rounding out the team. James Boone and Quinn Eaton will play the event as individuals for the Racers.

MSU is looking for their first team championship since 2012 when they beat John A. Logan in a playoff after carding scores of 288-286-287=861. MSU Has never had a medalist winner in the event. In 2017, the Racers placed second and saw Edwards finish second on scores of 69-71=140. In 2016, Austin Knight had scores of 71-71=142 to place third.

Monday's first day of play at Paris Landing has the Racers competing with Alabama State, Bethel, John A. Logan, Rend Lake, Tennessee State and host UT Martin. Monday has 36 holes of play and Tuesday's finish is 18 holes.

Paris Landing State Park is a par-72 layout and will play 6,685 yards. This course is one of the signature courses of the Tennessee State Park system and is part of the Tennessee Golf Trail.
