Bagwell Runner-Up At Skyhawk Classic - Racers 3rd

The Murray State's Dalton Bagwell made it to a playoff for the medalist title at the UT Martin Skyhawk Classic at Paris Landing State Park, before settling for a runner-up spot.

After two days of play and 54 holes in Buchanan, Tennessee, the MSU sophomore was in a tie for the lead with Butler's Michael Cascino, each with a 214 total. Cascino won the playoff with Bagwell on the par-4 No.1 hole. Still for Bagwell, he was MSU's top player at the UTM event on scores of 71-71-72=214.

MSU senior, Every Edwards, placed 10th on scores of 71-71-76-330, while Austin Knight placed 15th on rounds of 76-71-76=223. Connor Coombs had scores of 73-74-77=224 and Walker Beck placed 47th after carding scores of 76-81-77-234.

The Racers fell off the pace in the final round with a 301, while host UTM carded a 289 to win by 10 shots. The Racers finished with a score line of 291-289-301=881, while the Skyhawks posted an 871 and second place Butler 878.

MSU's second team placed sixth on rounds of 305-301-300=906.

James Boone led the second team with an 18th place finish with a score line of 75-73-75=223, while Justin Wendling placed 23rd on scores of 74-73-77=224. John Buchanan moved up to a 36th place showing on rounds of 77-80-73=230 and Carson Holmes had scores of 79-77-75=231. Quinn Eaton placed 63rd on scores of 79-78-83=240.

Paris Landing State Park is a par-72 layout and played 6,685 yards. This course is one of the signature courses of the Tennessee State Park system and is part of the Tennessee Golf Trail.

The Racers have two events to complete the fall portion of the 2019-20 season. The Austin Peay Intercollegiate will take place at GreyStone Golf Club in Dickson, Tennessee (Oct. 14-15) and TVA Community Credit Union Invitational is at Turtle Point Country Club (Oct. 21-22) in Florence, Alabama.
