MSU's Picchi Named OVC Golfer Of The Month

Murray State freshman, Ana Garcia Picchi, was named the Ohio Valley Conference Female Golfer of the Month for September.

Out of Seville, Spain, Picchi had a tremendous collegiate debut when she finished seventh out of 94 competitors at the South Alabama Intercollegiate in Mobile. She had rounds of 73-71-71 to finish at 215 (-1) and help Murray State to a seventh-place finish out of 16 squads. She followed that by placing 44th at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational in Lexington, Kentucky, firing round of 75-76-77 to finish at 228 (+12). Through the month of September Picchi is second in the OVC in stroke average overall (73.8) and first among golfers who have played in more than one event.

The fall season for the Racers continues at the Chris Banister Classic (Oct. 7-8) hosted by Jacksonville State at Silver Springs Golf Club in Gadsden, Alabama.
