Murray State women's soccer sophomore Abby Jones has been named to the 2019 Academic All-District First Team, as announced by CoSIDA on Thursday.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academically, Jones carries a 4.00 cumulative GPA while majoring in biology and pre-physician assistant studies.
On the field, Jones has turned in a spectacular season, recording 22 points on six goals and an OVC-leading 10 assists. The Powell, Ohio native set a Murray State single-game record with four assists in Murray State's 5-0 victory over SIUE on September 22nd, while her 10 assists on the year have tied the Murray State single-season record that she set herself during her freshman campaign in 2018. She has also scored a goal in each of her side's final three games of the regular season, propelling the Racers to a #2 seed in this year's OVC Tournament.
Honorees selected for the First Team Academic All-District® advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.
