Monroe Inks with Racer Softball for 2020-21

Murray State softball is set to welcome the ninth player in its 2020-21 signing class, as announced by head coach Kara Amundson on Saturday.
Rachel Monroe, a right-handed pitcher for nationally ranked Lakewood Ranch High School, is the latest addition to the Racer softball family - coming to Murray State from her hometown of Bradenton, Florida.
In the circle, Monroe has guided the Mustangs to a pair of district and regional titles under head coach TJ Goelz. Additionally, she plays travel ball for the Florida Storm for head coach Ralph Rodriguez, and enjoyed a successful fall campaign in 2019 – posting an ERA of just 1.65 through 61 innings of work.
She was also selected to represent the USA on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2019 where her side defeated the European champions, Bollate, by a score of 10-1. She turned in 14 innings on the trip, recording 18 strikeouts while allowing just three hits to opposing batters.
A complete student-athlete, Monroe has also carried a 3.58 GPA during her time at Lakewood Ranch High School.
