Surendran Leads Racers At Kiawah Island In Round Two

It was a tough day for the Murray State women's golf team Monday at the Kiawah Island Spring Classic.

The Racers fell off their pace from round one and had scores of 308-320=628 through 36 holes and had fallen 10 spots in the field of 43 teams to 38^th place.

Linette Holmslykke moved up three spots to 70^th place after scores of 75-76=151, while Jane Watts fell to 123^rd place on scores of 74-81=155. Anna Moore was in 152^nd place on scores of 75-83=158, while Sarah McDowell was in 198^th place on rounds of 84-80=164. Lucila Puente Rodriguez de Austria was in 251^st place on scores of 97-100=197.

Raeshya Surendran shot the best round of the day for the Racers, playing the event as an individual, and was in 53^rd place on scores of 76-74=150.

Billed as the largest field of any college event, the event will wrap up Tuesday with the final round.

North Florida surged into the lead Monday with a score of 284 and had a total of 577, which was good for a four-shot lead on second place Coastal Carolina at 581.
