Wheeler Posts Low Round For Racers At FAU Event

Murray State's Gabe Wheeler shot the low round of the day for the Racers with a 1-under-par 71 in round two of the FAU Spring Championship in Boca Raton, Florida, at Osprey Point Golf Club.

Wheeler moved up eight spots and was in 25^th place after scores of 74-71=145 with his eighth sub-par round in the 2018-19 season. Other MSU scores and standings included Austin Knight in 57^th place on scores of 78-72=150 and Justin Wendling in 65^th place after rounds of 77-75-152. Connor Coombs had a spot in 67^th place on rounds of 77-76=153 and James Boone carded scores of 79-77=156.

Central Florida carries the lead into Sunday's final round with a 36-hole total of 561 after they went from third to first with a second round 275. Florida Atlantic (565), Bethune-Cookman (571), Southern Illinois (574) and UConn (574) made up the top-5.

Central Florida's Bobby Bai is the medalist leader after scores of 67-67=134. He has a three-shot lead on teammate Kyler Tate.

The Racers carded scores of 306-294=600 and were in 13^th place.

The field of 14 teams is playing Osprey Point, which is a par 72 layout with a length of 6,786 yards.
