Racers Carry Two-Shot Lead Into Weaver Invitational Final Saturday

The Murray State women's golf team carries a two-shot lead into Saturday's final round of the Jan Weaver Invitational at Miller Memorial Golf Course in Murray, 
Kentucky.

The Racers set a 17-year record for their home spring event in the opening morning round Friday with a 3-under-par 285, led by a 3-under-par 69 by Linette Holmslykke and a 1-under-par 71 from Anna Moore. Heading into Saturday's final round, Moore is second in the medalist chase on scores of 70-71-141 and Holmslykke is third after posting scores of 69-73=142. MSU's Jane Watts gives MSU three in the top-10 with a spot in seventh place on scores of 70-75=145. Other MSU scores included Raeshya Surendran in 52nd place on scores of 76-81=157 and Lucila Puente Rodriguez de Austria in 80th place on scores of 84-81=165.

The Racers lead the event after scores of 285-400=585 and lead Eastern Kentucky (294-293=587) by a pair of shots, with Rutgers (292-298=590) in third place. Louisiana-Monroe (597), Tennessee Tech (606), Bradley (608) and Southern Illinois (611) made up the top-7 in the field of 15 teams.

Moore and Holmlslykke are chasing the medalist leader, Elsa Moberly of EKU who had scores of 70-68=138 and is three shots ahead of Moore and four ahead Holmslykke.

Sarah McDowell leads four MSU individuals with a spot in 21st place on rounds of 74-78=152, while Taylor Church had scores of 75-78=153 and was in 26th place. Nadine Innes was in 38th place on rounds of 82-73=155 and Carli Jo Doss was in 70th place after scores of 82-80-162.

Saturday's final 18 begins with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
