Anderson Named All-OVC 2nd Team, Burns Lands on All-Freshman Team

The Ohio Valley Conference released the All-OVC selections, Tuesday afternoon and two Racers found their names on the lists. Junior outfielder Brock Anderson was named All-OVC second team and freshman pitcher Shane Burns was named to the All-OVC freshmen team.
Anderson enjoyed a successful first season at Murray State after transferring from Walters State. He led the team with 12 home runs, 43 RBI, and 45 runs scored. His .285 batting average also led the team among qualified hitters and his nine home runs in OVC play led all OVC outfielders during the conference season.
Burns was the most consistent pitcher on the Racers staff this season, going 3-2 overall with a 3.79 ERA. He led the team with 61.2 innings pitched, 58 strikeouts, and a .220 opponent's batting average. In OVC play he had even better numbers as he had a 3.48 ERA and .209 opponent's batting average.
The Racers finished the season with a 22-27 overall record and 16-14 record in OVC action, earning the #5 seed in the OVC Tournament where they will play #4 Belmont, Wednesday morning. First pitch at Rent One Park in Marion, Illinois is scheduled for 9 a.m.
