The Murray State Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) handed out awards for the 2018-19 school year in Racer Athletics at the Curris Center Monday, May 6.
With baseball, softball, and track & field yet to compete at their OVC Championships, MSU entered the evening having won five team championships over the past season (Rifle, Soccer, Volleyball, Men's Basketball and Women's Golf).
Team awards were given in the areas of both academics and in community service. The evening was also special to a group of 19 student-athletes who completed "Four Years-Two Goals." The motto recalls the goal for every MSU student-athlete as they strive to earn their degree and win an OVC Championship during their time as a Racer.
Team Academic Award
The MSU Team Academic Award was won this year by softball who had a combined 3.71 spring GPA and a 3.62 fall GPA. As a whole, MSU student-athletes consistently performed with distinction in the classroom as their overall GPA for the 2018-19 academic year was 3.10.
Team Community Service Award
For the third in a row, women's cross country/track and field received the Team Community Service Award. These are just a few of the services that teams participated in this year: all-sport Special Olympics, Reading to elementary school students, Soup for the Soul, ALS Walk, Needline, kid's clinic for junior golfers and the Humane Society

Four Years/Two Goals
The goal of Murray State Athletics is for each student to leave Murray State University with a diploma in one hand and a conference championship ring on the other. The Four Years/Two Goals Award is presented to those student athletes who have done just this.  They will graduate from Murray State University and won a conference championship during their time at MSU.
