Racer Baseball Names All-Decade Alumni Team

The Murray State baseball program announced their All-Decade team this week, consisting of players who graduated in the last decade.
One player at each position, including a designated hitter and a utility player, was chosen, in addition to five pitchers. There were also 11 players that merited an honorable mention.
The team is as follows:
Tyler Lawrence '17 – Catcher
Wes Cunningham '10 – First Base
Travis Isaak '12 – Second Base
Jaron Robinson '19 – Shortstop
Kipp Moore '17 – Third Base
Ty Stetson '14 – Left Field
Elliot Frey '11 – Center Field
Brandon Gutzler '18 – Right Field
Bryan Propst '10 – Designated Hitter
Jack Hranec '17 – Utility
Brock Downey '15 – Pitcher
Cameron Finch '14 – Pitcher
Ryan Dills '17 – Pitcher
Matt McGaha '10 – Pitcher
Chris Craycraft '10 – Pitcher
Tyler Lawrence – Catcher – 2014-17 – Collierville, Tenn.
By the time Tyler Lawrence graduated from Murray State, he had a quite a mark, becoming the all-time leader in games played (222), hits, at-bats (843), hits (266), doubles (59), RBI (189), and total bases (432). The two-time All-OVC selection was not just the best catcher of the decade, but one of the best players to ever come through Murray, Kentucky.
Wes Cunningham – First Base – 2007-10 – Louisville, Ky.
Wes Cunningham can also make a claim as the best player in program history as he finished his career with a program-best .399 batting average, 30 points higher than the person behind him. He was a three-time First-Team All-OVC Selection and two-time ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District. Cunningham hit over .400 twice, including his senior season in 2010 where he hit .408 while setting single-season records for hits (95), home runs (22), runs scored (77), RBI (86), total bases (192), and slugging percentage (.824), all which still stand today, en route to being named OVC Player of the Year.
Honorable Mention – Mike Kozlowski '13, Ramsey Scott '18
Travis Isaak – Second Base – 2011-12 – Carlyle, Ill.
Isaak started 96 games in his two years at Murray State, hitting .309 and collecting 120 hits. He was named First-Team All-OVC in 2012 after leading the Racers with a .311 batting average, 20 doubles, six home runs, and 41 RBI.
Honorable Mention – Anthony Bayus '15
Jaron Robinson – Shortstop – 2016-19 – Rockford, Ill.
A four-year starting shortstop, Jaron Robinson played in 209 career games, third-most in program history, and finished with 203 career hits, one of just 14 players in the exclusive club at MSU. After being named to the OVC All-Freshman team, he enjoyed his best season in 2017 where he hit .325 with 65 hits, 12 doubles, and 11 stolen bases.
Honorable Mention – Brandon Elliott '13
Kipp Moore – Third Base – 2015-17 – Shelby County, Ky.
Moore played three years for the Racers where he hit .290 with 20 home runs and 92 runs batted in. He was named to the OVC All-Freshman Team in 2015 after followed that up with a solid sophomore year, setting career-highs with a .318 batting average, 18 doubles, and 35 RBI.
Ty Stetson – Left Field – 2010-14 – Carmel, Ind.
Stetson took control of the leadoff spot in the lineup during his OVC All-Freshman season and never let it go as he led off the game 193 times for the Racers in his career. He currently sits third all-time with 167 runs scored and when he graduated, he set career records for games played (209) at at-bats (787) (since passed by Tyler Lawrence). He is also third all-time in hits with 236, seventh in doubles with 42, second in walks with 146, third in hit-by-pitch with 33. His 53 walks in 2012 is also the second most in a single season in program history.
Elliott Frey – Center Field – 2008-11 – Edwardsville, Ill.
A career .307 hitter, Elliott Frey was a consistent presence in the outfield during his four years in Murray. He is 10th all-time with 206 hits and fifth in runs scored with 153. Frey also had a knack for getting hit by a pitch as he was plunked a program-record 51 times.
Brandon Gutzler – Right Field – 2016-18 – St. Louis, Mo.
Gutzler was a cornerstone for the Racers during his time in Murray, starting all 120 games he played in. He was a career .356 hitter and finished his career with a 1.049 OPS. He was a two-time All-OVC selection and was an NCBWA Second-Team All-American in 2017 after hitting .353 with 16 home runs 71 RBI, and 84 hits, the latter three all being second-best single season performances in program history.
Honorable Mention – Zach Noonan '11
Bryan Propst – Designated Hitter – 2009-10 – Springfield, Mo.
Propst hit .360 in his two years in Murray with 21 home runs, 34 doubles, 92 RBI, and 93 runs scored. He led the team in doubles both years he was here while his 75 hits, 57 runs scored and 92 RBI were all second most on the team in 2010, but still in the top-10 all-time. His .360 batting average is third-highest in program history.
Honorable Mention – Brandon Eggenschwiler '13
Jack Hranec – Utility – 2016-17 – Ortonville, Mich.
One of the few true two-way players Murray State had this past decade, Hranec was a force to be reckoned with at the plate while also being solid on the mound. He hit .344 with 101 hits, 16 doubles, 18 home runs, and 81 RBI. His 16 home runs in 2017 is second-most in a single season. On the mound, Hranec made 24 starts in two years, garnering six wins while striking out 81 batters in 102 innings pitched.
Honorable Mention – Adam Bauer '17, Paul Ritzheimer '13
Brock Downey – Pitcher – 2011-15 – Murray, Ky.
The only MSU pitcher to be named OVC Pitcher of the Year in the 2010s, Brock Downey enjoyed tremendous success over four years in his hometown. He had a career ERA of 4.69 and collected 13 wins in 57 appearances on the mound. In his standout junior season, he went 9-3 with a 2.76 ERA and 74 strikeouts while throwing a program-record 107.2 innings.
Cameron Finch – Pitcher – 2011-14 – Collierville, Tenn.
Cameron Finch's most notable moment in Murray came on March 22, 2013 when he became the first and so far only pitcher this millennium to throw a no-hitter, but he did plenty more to earn himself a spot on this list. He threw 271.1 innings as a Thoroughbred, second-most in program history while also being in the top ten in both appearances (66) and starts (36). He also collected 14 wins and had 168 strikeouts during his career.
Ryan Dills – Pitcher – 2016-17 – Evansville, Ind.
One of the best pure strikeout pitchers the Racers have ever had, Dills had 171 strikeouts in just two years in Murray. His 95 strikeouts is the third-most in single-season history, behind two seasons from MSU great George Dugan. Dills also had great control as he only had 39 walks in 149.1 innings pitched.
Matt McGaha – Pitcher – 2007-10 – Louisville, Ky.
McGaha was a very consistent pitcher for Murray State before breaking out his senior year. He was named Second Team All-OVC after leading the team with a 3.90 ERA out of the bullpen. He went 5-3 with three saves and 52 strikeouts in 67 innings pitched.
Chris Craycraft – Pitcher – 2008-10
One of just five pitchers in Murray State history to be named All-OVC more than once, Chris Craycraft was a second-team selection in both 2009 and 2010. He is the all-time leader in innings pitched with 279.0 innings and is third all-time with 21 wins and fourth with 202 strikeouts.
