The 2020-21 school year is Eddie Hunt's is in his 20th season as the coach of the Murray State golf program as the second coach in the history of the program. He took over the MSU program for the 2001-02 season when he replaced legendary coach Buddy Hewitt who had coached the Racers for 40 years from 1961-2001.
Coach Hunt won his first Ohio Valley Conference title in 2010 and he has been honored by his coaching peers twice as the OVC Coach of the Year in 2009 and 2010.
Hunt has attracted exceptional talent to the Murray State program over the years producing 25 All-OVC selections. He had coached four OVC Golfer of the Year winners and those occurred in consecutive years. Nick Newcomb (2010), Cameron Carrico (2011) and Patrick Newcomb (2012 and 2013).
In 2020, Coach Hunt saw the Newcombs become the first brother tandem to be inducted into the MSU Athletics Hall of Fame.
