Knight Leads Racers At Gulf Coast Intercollegiate

The Murray State Austin Knight led the way in the first day of play for the Racer men's golf team at the Gulf Coast Intercollegiate in Diamondhead, Mississippi.

Knight carded scores of 78-71=149 and had a spot in 12th place in the field of 56 players at the Pine Course of the Diamondhead Golf & Country Club, while Connor Coombs had a spot in 16th place on rounds of 70-80=150. Other MSU scores included Dalton Bagwell and James Boone in 36th place. Bagwell had scores of 80-77=157 and James Boone posted scores of 78-79=157. Avery Edwards had a spot in 45th place on scores of 78-82=160. MSU's Quinn Eaton is in the event as an individual and was in 55th place on scores of 93-88=181.

The Racers posted scores of 304-307=611 for a spot in sixth place, ahead of Southeastern Louisiana and North Dakota at 320 and just behind Nicholls State at 601. New Orleans had the lead at 576, with UT Martin (583), Samford (584), Incarnate Word (588) and Rio Grande Valley (590) making up the top-5.

Henry Fisher of Rio Grande Valley and Grayson Gilbert of New Orleans shared the lead at 139 (-5).

The final round will be played Tuesday morning.
