On a rainy Sunday afternoon in 2017, Mason Robinson pitched a game that would earn her a permanent spot in the program's record book. The senior from Lewis Center, Ohio celebrated her senior day in style on April 23, 2017 when she hurled the first perfect game in Racer softball history. Tossing just 50 pitches in the six-inning outing, Robinson and the Racers secured an 8-0 victory over Belmont at Racer Field.
The triumph in the circle was also the 20th of the season for Robinson, which tied CheyAnne Gaskey's program record for the most wins in a season – a record that Robinson went on to break, and her 23 wins in 2017 still stands as the Racer single-season record. Additionally, Robinson is still the program's all-time career wins leader with 68.
The game is now one of three flawless outings for Murray State softball, as Robinson would actually go on to throw the program's second perfect game just five days later in an 8-0 six-inning victory on the road over Eastern Illinois. The most recent perfect game came courtesy of Hannah James, who tossed Murray State's first seven-inning perfect game on March 31, 2019 in a 1-0 win over Belmont.
The game also served as a milestone for then senior Jessica Twaddle, who became the program's all-time leader in RBI, passing Alexa Becker when she drove in a pair via a two-run home run in the first inning. Twaddle's career mark of 143 is still a Murray State record.
