Murray State standout Jordan Cozart has been named a Third-Team All-American as released by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Tuesday morning.
Cozart is the first Racer to be named All-America since Brandon Gutzler was named second-team All-America by NCBWA in 2017. Cozart is just the third MSU player named an All-American by Collegiate Baseball as Daniel Calhoun and Wes Cunningham were both named to the third-team in 2009 and 2010, respectively.
This season, Cozart hit .417 and led the Racers with 25 hits, 18 runs scored, nine walks, a .486 on-base percentage, and a .750 slugging percentage. He also hit five home runs, five doubles, and drove in 19 runs. Across the OVC, he was in the top-six in batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, hits, runs, RBI, home runs, and total bases.
The All-American honor adds to the list of accomplishments for the Evansville, Indiana native this season as he was named the 17th-best senior hitter and 26th-best second baseman in the country last month by D1Baseball. He was also named OVC Player of the Week and a Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week on March 16 after his big 5-for-6 performance with three home runs and nine RBI against Austin Peay.
