Racers Announce 2021-22 Men's Golf Schedule

The Murray State men's golf team announced its 2021-22 schedule that covers five events over two months of fall competition and the spring season that features seven events culminating with the Ohio Valley Conference Championship in April.

The Racers get the fall portion of the schedule going at the EKU Invitational (Sept. 3-4) and follow with an appearance at the Derek Donlenc Invitational (Sept. 27-28). Three October events await Racers including the Skyhawk Classic (Oct. 4-5) at Jackson Country Club in Jackson, Tenn., Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate (Oct. 11-12) in Jonesboro, Ark., at Ridgepointe CC and TVA Credit Union Invitational (Oct. 18-19) in Florence, Ala., at Turtle Point GC. These courses are regular stops for the Racers.

The spring season sees MSU playing in new places they've not visited including the UNCG Invitational (Feb. 13-15) at Hammock Creek GC in Palm City, Fla. And the La Tour Intercollegiate (March 27-28) at La Tour Club in Matthews, La. Mixed in are familiar stops at the Gulf Coast Collegiate in Diamondhead, Miss., and the Bobby Nichols Collegiate in Sevierville, Tenn. and the TSU Big Intercollegiate (April 11-12) at Hermitage GC in Nashville.

With the OVC Championship to employ match-play for the first time to determine the champion, the Racers are going to play the Carpenter & Chaney Match Play (April 4-5) in Tunica, Miss. The event honors OVC golf coaching legends, Jerry Carpenter of UT Martin and Rex Chaney of Morehead State.

The OVC Championship will be played in Missouri for the first time in men's golf history (April 22-24) when the event is played in Cape Girardeau at Dalhousie GC. The OVC winner advances to NCAA regional play, a place the Racers last visited in 2010.

"The fall season is very important for us to get off to a good start and to get our younger guys some experience," said first year Racer head coach Daniel DeLuca. "I am very excited about our schedule because I believe we can be very competitive in it. We're playing more regionally in the fall which is great for family and friends to get eyes on our guys and support them. Our spring season is stacked with great events that I believe will prepare us for The OVC Championship in April. The guys are working hard and bringing tremendous energy during this first week of practice and qualifying. We are looking forward to getting our season started at the EKU event."
