Tee Time – Racers Head West To Air Force For Season Opener

The 2022-23 men’s golf season begins for the Racers at Eisenhower Golf Club in Colorado
The Murray State men's golf team begins the fall portion of the 2022-23 season with an appearance at the 53rd Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational. The three-day event is played at Eisenhower Golf Club in Colorado Springs, Colo. The Air Force Academy
hosts and is part of a field of 24 teams.
First year MSU head coach Jacob Miller leads the Racers out west for his first event as the Racer men's program begins its 62nd season of collegiate golf.
Miller sends out a starting five that includes two newcomers and three returners. Jay Nimmo, a Benton, Kentucky native, returns to the Murray Area as a transfer from Mississippi State and Jakob Wellman is a true freshman from Owensboro, Ky. The returners include John Buchanan, Kamaren Cunningham and Tyler Powell. Buchanan turned heads in fall qualifying with an amazing 11-under-par 60, while Cunningham and Powell combined to play in 50 rounds in 2021-22.
In the Racers' first appearance in the Air Force event, they will tackle the Eisenhower Blue Course on Friday and Saturday with 18-holes of stroke play. Sunday's final round begins at 7:30 a.m. (MT).
At high altitude, the Racers will be playing the longest layout in program history as the Eisenhower Blue Course plays 7,541 yards from an elevation of more than 6,000 feet.
