Amazing Finish Pushes Racers Past APSU In Battle of the Border

MSU women’s golf wins 6-of-7 singles matches on the final day of competition at Hopkinsville Country Club
The Murray State Racers and Austin Peay Governors once again clashed on the golf course in their annual women's golf competition at Hopkinsville Country Club in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
In the two-day event, staged just as the Ryder Cup and Solheim Cup, the Racers took on the Govs Monday in Best Ball and Alternate Shot matches where APSU took a 3.5 to 2.5 lead on the Racers heading into Tuesday's seven singles matches.

When the Racers won six of the seven singles matches, they won bragging rights with an 8-5 victory.

Singles play saw the Racers' top-3 players earn two wins and a halve, including MSU's Payton Carter and Eliza Mae Kho each winning their matches and Emily Shimkus taking a half point. MSU's McKenna Stahl, Patti Patterson and Ella Scherer also scored wins in their matches.

The Battle of the Border is a fun event for both golf teams from Murray State and Austin Peay. The Murray State men's team meets APSU (Feb. 10) also at Hopkinsville CC.
