Racers Win Final Game In Texas

MSU staves off late UTEP rally
The Murray State softball team edged UTEP, 7-6, Sunday at Poly Wells Field in Abilene, Texas as part of the 2023 Wildcat Invitational. The win allowed the Racers to leave the Lone Star State with a 2-3 record.
Fast Facts
- The Racers did the majority of their scoring in the second and fourth innings, scoring three runs in each. Leading 7-3 headed to the bottom of the seventh, the Miners added three runs, but it was not enough as Murray State held on for the 7-6 win.
 - Lily Fischer was the only Racer to tally two hits in the game, as six other Racers helped account for the eight total hits on Sunday. Gracie Osbron pushed two runs across the plate, while Lindsey Carroll scored twice.
 - Bre Haislip fanned four over the first 3.0 innings of the game, while Jenna Veber got the win by allowing just two earned runs over the final four innings.

The Racers will travel to Troy, Alabama next weekend for the 2023 Trojan Classic hosted by Troy. Murray State will play both Troy and Kennesaw State twice over the course of the two-day event.
