Nimmo’s 65 Highlights Day 1 At Bellarmine Event

The Racers are in the hunt at The Standard Club in Louisville
The Murray State men's golf team had a share of third-place after Monday's 36 holes at the Ernie Denham Classic, hosted by Bellarmine at the Standard Club in Louisville, Kentucky.
The Racers carded scores of 287-295=582 and were in the hunt as they shared third place with Austin Peay and Southern Indiana. Northern Kentucky (571) led the field of 14 teams, 10 shots clear of Bowling Green (581).
Murray State's Jay Nimmo had a spot in 15th place on scores of 65-81=146. His morning 65 was a work of art as he started with five-consecutive pars before making three birdies and an eagle to card a 5-under par 30. Nimmo added four birdies on the inward nine for a nifty score of 7-under par. His 65 topped his 66 from last October at Paris Landing for his low score and the Racers low score in the 2022-23.
The last MSU player to shoot a 65 was Dalton Bagwell at Miller Memorial in 2019. Nimmo was one shot off carding a 64, as Walker Beck did at the EKU Arlington course in Richmond, Ky., and Avery Edwards at Miller Memorial each in 2019.
Tuesday's final round begins with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Eastern Time.
