Racers Drop Rubber Match Despite Outhitting Sycamores

Murray State baseball fell 6-2 on Sunday afternoon to Indiana State

Murray State baseball fell 6-2 in the series finale to Indiana State on Sunday afternoon at Bob Warn Field in Terre Haute, Indiana. The Racers would outhit the Sycamores 8-5 despite the final result.

Taylor Howell provided offensive firepower for MSU with a two-hit day including a two-run home run to drive in both of the Murray State runs on the day. Logan Bland would have his second multihit performance of the weekend with a pair of base hits.

Dustin Mercer and Carson Garner each provided an extra-base hit with a double apiece.

Murray State starting pitcher Bryce Valero allowed just one earned run across 4.0 innings pitched while striking out six. Relief arms Ben Krizen and Allen Roulette both held the Sycamores hitless across four innings as Roulette tossed 2.2 innings with no runs, no hits and three strikeouts.

The Racers will be back in action on Tuesday for their final nonconference game of the season when they travel to Louisville, Kentucky for a matchup with Bellarmine.
