James, Carroll, Jackson Earn Postseason Honors

Three Murray State softball players earn MVC postseason honors after placing third in the regular season.
Three of Murray State softball represent the blue and gold in the Missouri Valley Conference's annual postseason awards as the Racers end their inaugural season as a conference member in fourth place.

Hannah James leads the Racers off by earning MVC All-Conference First Team honors. James led the conference in ERA and shutouts with 1.34 and seven, respectively. She ended the season ranked fifth nationally in strikeout-to-walk ratio, striking out 7.92 batters for every 1.0 walked.

James was named MVC Pitcher of the Week twice and had pitched one perfect game and nine complete games.

Lindsey Carroll is named MVC All-Conference Second Team after her fifth year as a second baseman for the Racers. Carroll led the Racers' offense in conference play with a .345 batting average and .843 OPS. Offensively, she posted 11 RBIs, 12 runs, and 30 hits.

Defensively, Carroll posted a total of 85 putouts and 91 assists while only making nine for a .951 fielding percentage.

Taylor Jackson rounds up the Racer postseason haul by earning the All-Defensive Team honors. ÂÂÂÂÂÂJackson was on the plate for all 53 of the Racers' games. She is second in The Valley in putouts with 368.

By earning the fourth seed in the MVC Softball Tournament, the Racers got a first-round bye and will face the winner of Valparaiso versus Indiana State at 1 p.m., Thursday.
