Racers Athletics raised nearly $240,000 dollars during the university's week of giving
Murray State Athletics and the Racer Club saw an incredible surge of support during the University's Week of Giving, shattering the previous department record for gifts by more than $30,000.
Â
Backed by an unwavering commitment to all things Murray State Athletics and its more than 350 student-athletes, the Racers were able to raise $238,980 during the philanthropic campaign.
Â
"Once again, Racer Nation has answered the call in a massive way with their support of Murray State," Director of Athletics Nico Yantko said. "This was a huge week for our entire University and we cannot thank our donors enough for investing their time, talents and treasures into our department and student-athletes."
Â
The department's previous record for the Week of Giving came a year ago, when the Racers received $203,090.
Â
Over the last year, the Racers more than doubled their fundraising with a 126 percent increase in productivity and saw a 29 percent increase in membership growth to the Racer Club, the most in a single year in department history.
Â
All of that success has allowed the department to embark on numerous capital projects, including the Baseball/Softball Performance Center, upgrades to football team spaces, new LED lights in the CFSB Center and more. In total, the Racers have more than $1 million in projects currently underway.
Â
The Racer Club plays a crucial role in helping support student-athlete scholarships, general operating budget, and facility enhancements. Investors play a critical role in funding the student-athlete experience and the competitive success of Murray State Athletics programs and student-athletes.
