Pennington Receives First Weekly Honors Of 2024

Jacob Pennington struck out nine batters through seven scoreless innings in a win over Louisiana-Monroe.

Graduate right-handed-pitcher Jacob Pennington was named the Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Pennington, native of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, tossed seven scoreless innings in his season debut against the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks on Friday. He struck out nine batters while only allowing four hits.

After recording his second strikeout in the seventh inning of his outing, Pennington became the fifth player in Murray State history to record 200 career strikeouts as a Racer.

Pennington and the Racers return to action at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27 to take on the North Alabama Lions at Reagan Field in Murray, Kentucky.
