Murray State men’s golf team competes in a unique match-play event in the Sequatchie Valley
The Murray State men's golf team plays Monday and Tuesday at the Sweetens Cove Intercollegiate in South Pittsburg, Tenn.

The Racers compete in a match play event for the second time in the 2023-24 season when they join seven teams for a bracket-style competition that sees a championship earned after two days and three rounds of play. The Racers already competed in a match play duel with Austin Peay in their annual Battle of the Border last month.

The schedule of play begins Monday with a morning practice round and the quarterfinals in the afternoon. Tuesday sees the semifinals contested in the morning with the finals in the afternoon. Consolation matches means each team gets three matches over the two days. The event calls for 6-man teams in the seeded bracket, host Miami (OH) and Western Carolina are the top-2 seeds, followed by Belmont, South Dakota State, High Point, Samford, Bowling Green and the Racers.

The Racers are playing one of the top courses in the nation as Sweetens Cove has been ranked as high as No. 21 by Golfweek in their list of the best course to play in the USA. In 2019. construction of the King-Collins designed course was supported by the likes of NFL great Peyton Manning and international tennis star Andy Roddick.
