Cunningham Leads Racers In First Day of Hawkeye Invitational

Murray State plays the Finkbine Golf Club course in the final round Sunday
Kamaren Cunningham led the Murray State men's golf team in the first 36 holes of play at the Hawkeye Invitational at Finkbine Golf Course, in Iowa City, Iowa.
Cunningham posted a 1-under-par 71 in the morning round and a 74 in the afternoon. His 145 total was good for a spot in 41st place. He had 23 pars on the day and was in the top-10 in par-3 scoring.
Murray State's Jay Nimmo carded a 5-under-par 67 in the first 18 holes and was among nine players that posted a score of 67 or better on the day.
The Racers got out of the gate with a morning 286 for a spot in 12th place, but an afternoon 301 dropped them to 15th place at 587. They'll be paired with their two closest opponents, Kansas and Missouri State, each nine shots in front in the 8:15 a.m. Sunday start.
