The Racers are slated to take on the Ole Miss Rebels on Tuesday, April 9 at Swayze Field in Oxford, Mississippi.

Tuesday's matchup is the first time since 2022 that Murray State takes on the Rebels on the road and the 25th all-time meeting between the two teams. The Racers are 1-9 in the last 10 games against Ole Miss, with MSU's last victory over the Rebels happening during the 2006 season by a score of 7-6. All 24 previous games have been played in Oxford.

First pitch on Tuesday is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT.

Scouting Report
The Rebels enter Tuesday's contest with an 18-15 record under head coach Mike Bianco. Bianco, who is in his 27th season as a head coach and 24th with Ole Miss, has amassed a career record of 997-600-1 and an 897-529-1 record as the Rebels' skipper.

In their last 10 games, the Rebels are 2-8 having dropped their last seven games after getting swept at home by No. 15-ranked Kentucky and on the road at top-ranked Arkansas, along with a midweek loss at Memphis by a score of 9-4.

Ole Miss is led offensively by Ethan Lege, who leads the team in batting average (.351), base hits (40) and doubles (9) while also recording the second-most runs scored (32) and tied for the second-most RBIs (31) on the roster. Andrew Fischer leads the Rebels with a 1.138 OPS, 13 homers and 34 runs driven in. Jackson Ross has also added 31 RBIs of his own along with seven home runs, a team-high 33 runs scored and 33 base hits on a .292 batting average.

The Rebels' pitching staff is led by Riley Maddox, Liam Doyle and Mason Nichols. Maddox has been one of the more enduring arms for Ole Miss in 2024 having thrown the most innings with 36 1/3 in eight appearances with seven starts. Doyle has fanned a team-best 43 batters through 25 2/3 innings despite holding a 7.01 ERA and a 2-2 record through five starts in nine appearances.

Nichols has just one start in 12 appearances on the mound, yet has a sub-4 ERA through 18 1/3 innings and a 3-0 record. The Jackson, Mississippi native has 28 strikeouts on the season thus far behind Doyle's 43 and Gunnar Dennis' 35 punchouts in 28 1/3 innings.

Murray State is among the top five in the conference in walks drawn (159), team batting average (.289), ERA (5.42), base hits (318), hits allowed per nine innings (9.65), home runs (51), runs scored (245), slugging percentage (.489), stolen bases (36), strikeout-to-walk ratio (2.45:1), strikeouts per nine innings (8.7), triples (5), WHIP (1.47) and walks allowed per nine innings (3.56).

The Racers moved up nine spots in this week's RPI rankings to 59th. Junior Carson Garner is 16th nationally with 33 walks drawn this season, while also sitting amongst the top 75 players in the country in home runs, slugging percentage and on-base percentage.
