Sam Guest Wins Kentucky Junior PGA Championship

The incoming Racer freshman from Louisville advances to the national event in late July
Murray State men's golf incoming freshman, Sam Guest, took home the Kentucky Junior PGA Championship after winning a one-hole playoff at Gibson Bay Golf Club in Richmond.

Guest carded a 74 in the opening round, but rallied in the final 18 holes of the 36-hole event with a 69 to get into a playoff with Brody Alexander. Guest made birdie on the first playoff hole to claim the title after he made a brilliant iron shot from 130 yards to three feet.

Guest reversed his fortunes after being the same situation at this event in 2023.

By winning the championship, Guest advances to the National Junior PGA Championship for a second season in a row. The 2024 event is played at historic Congressional Golf Club in the Washington D.C. area July 30-Aug. 2.

Out of Louisville's Martha Layne High School, Guest will be a freshman with the Racers in the fall.
