9/9/2024 9:08:00 PM | Men's Golf
The Racers began the fall golf campaign with 36 holes at the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational
The Murray State Racers performed well and so did senior Kamaren Cunningham in the first day of competition in the 2024-25 season in Barboursville, West Virginia at the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational at Guyan Golf & Country Club.
With the final round coming Tuesday morning, Cunningham was tied for the lead with Marshall's Cameron Jarvis at 135. Cunningham posted scores of 68-67 and played the final 17 holes of his second round 67 with five birdies and 12 pars.
Cunningham, the lefty from Dover, Tennessee, tries for his first medalist title in his collegiate career on Tuesday and the first for the Racers since Jay Nimmo won the Hoosier Collegiate PFAU Course in Bloomington, Indiana in 2023 on scores of 70-72-69=211.
The Racers had a spot in fifth place after posting scores of 283-280=563. MSU's 563 was three strokes from fourth place Cleveland State at 557. Host Marshall had the lead at 546, with Morehead State (554) and Longwood (557) making up the top-3.
