Racers Fifth At Velvet Championship

The Racers had a fifth-place showing at the Country Club of Paducah
The Murray State women's golf program hosted the second annual Velvet Championship in Paducah, Kentucky, where they placed fifth and Patti Patterson brought home an eighth-place finish.
The Racers scores of 312-312-314=938 at the Country Club of Paducah.
Patterson, a sophomore, carded scores of 79-73-76=228, while freshman Tina von Arx placed 20th on rounds of 83-73-79=235.
The Velvet Championship, is named in honor of Murray State 2024 Hall of Fame selection, Coach Velvet Milkman, who launched women's golf in 1993 and served as head coach for 29 seasons until her retirement in 2022.
The Racers' next event is at the Johnie Imes Invitational (Sept. 23-24) at Old Hawthorne Country Club in Columbia, Missouri. On Oct. 6-7, the Racers take on Austin Peay in the Battle of the Border Match Play in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, at Hopkinsville Country Club.
