Lewis 17th Heading to Final Round at Peoples Championship

The Murray State Racers men's golf team dropped one spot to 14th place at the Peoples Golf Championship at Sea Palms Resort in St. Simons Island, Georgia.

Through 36 holes of the 54-hole event on the Peach State coast, the Racers (581) were three shots above their round one score at 292 and were one shot from Long Island (580) and four shots clear of UT Martin (581).

MSU's Trey Lewis was in 17^th place after he posted a 71 in round two in the field of 119 players and had a total of 1-under-par 141.

UNC Greensboro was the leader (547) with Jake Lewis and Kelvin Hernandez sharing the lead each at 133.

The final round is played Saturday morning.

The course at Sea Palms is an original design by George Cobb and opened in 1967. Cobb, played collegiately at the University of Georgia in the late 1930's. He designed the par-3 course at Augusta National as well as well known courses, East Lake and Quail Hollow. Cobb passed away in 1986.
