Racers Nipped In Tiebreaker Semifinal at Sweetens Cove Match Play

The Racers are part of a field of eight teams in match play competition in South Pittsburg, Tenn.
The Murray State men's golf team went up against Miami (OH) Tuesday in the semifinals at the at the Sweetens Cove Intercollegiate in South Pittsburg, Tenn., and came away dissatisfied after losing in a tiebreaker.

With Lennon Albans, Jay Nimmo and Kamaren Cunningham all winning their matches for the No. 5 seed Racers, the match was deadlocked 3-3 after the six groups had finished. Per NCAA rules, the tie was broken by counting the total holes won on the day and Miami, the No. 1 seed, beat the Racers 10-4

"That was a great battle today going all the way to the final putt," said Murray State Coach Jacob Miller. "This is back-to-back days our guys got down early and battled back to close out their matches in a strong way. Losing in a tie breaker against the #1 seed stings, but we are prepared for tomorrow's matchup against APSU."

The Racers meet No. 2 Austin Peay in the match for third place Wednesday.at 9 a.m. Central Time.
