Racers Drop Middle Game Against UIC

The Murray State Baseball team, (22-9, 6-5 MVC), fell to UIC, (9-23, 5-6 MVC), 10-4 on Saturday afternoon at Johnny Reagan Field in Murray, Kentucky.

Nic Schutte provided the Racers another quality start, pitching six innings allowing just one earned run and striking out seven. The junior has struck out 17 batters in his last 14 innings pitched.

Dan Tauken recorded hit no. 100 in his Murray State career with a single in the bottom of the eighth inning. Tauken went 2-4 at the dish Saturday.

Dustin Mercer and Jonathan Hogart each recorded two hits in Saturday's contest and extended streaks for themselves. Mercer extended his hitting streak to eight games while Jonathan Hogart extended his on base streak to 14.

The Racers will be back in action for the closing game of the series tomorrow at JRF. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
