Racers Get NCAA Oxford Regional Assignment

The Racers are in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2003
The Murray State Racers received their NCAA Baseball Championship assignment Monday when they were placed in the four-team field of teams at the Oxford Regional (May 30 through June 2) at Swayze Field in Oxford, Mississippi.

The schedule of games begins Friday with No. 2 Georgia Tech meeting No 3 Western Kentucky at 3 p.m. CT and the No. 4 Racers taking on No. 1 Ole Miss at 7 p.m. CT. The double-elimination bracket culminates with a championship game on Sunday.

All games at the Oxford Regional will be televised by ESPN+.

The Racers (39-13) won four-straight games last week in tournament play to take the Missouri Valley Conference Championship with wins over Belmont, Southern Illinois, UIC and Missouri State. Murray State won a share of the the regular season title in the MVC at 17-8. Both titles are the first for the Racers in their third year as members of The Valley.

MSU is making its fourth NCAA appearance after last playing in 2003 under Coach Mike Thieke. The Racers' first NCAA trips were in 1975 and 1979 under Murray State legendary coach Johnny Reagan.
