Racers Honored by Fiscal Court of Calloway County

On the morning of Aug. 20, 2025, the Murray State Racers Baseball Team was given a resolution by Calloway County, commending Head Coach Dan Skirka and the Racers for their history 2025 season and impact on the Calloway County community.
"WHEREAS, the 2025 Murray State Racers baseball team achieved a historic record of 44–17, earning their first-ever Missouri Valley Conference regular-season title, conference tournament championship, and advancing to the NCAA Division I Baseball College World Series in program history; and
WHEREAS, the Racers delivered outstanding postseason performances, capturing the Oxford Regional by toppling Ole Miss, then winning the Durham Super Regional at Duke to earn a berth in the College World Series in Omaha ; and
WHEREAS, under the leadership of Head Coach Dan Skirka, the Racers set a new school record with 44 wins— the most in the 86year history of the program — and finished tied for 7th in the nation at the College World Series ; and
WHEREAS, Coach Dan Skirka was honored as the recipient of the 2025 Mike Martin National Coach of the Year Award from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, as well as being named Missouri Valley Conference Coach of the Year ; and
WHEREAS, Coach Skirka's inspiring leadership and unwavering commitment have elevated Murray State's baseball program to unprecedented success, winning the program's first MVC tournament championship since 2003, and continuing a run of five consecutive seasons with 30-plus wins;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, The Fiscal Court of Calloway County, Kentucky do hereby formally recognize and commend the 2025 Murray State Racers baseball team and Coach Dan Skirka for their exceptional achievements and remarkable representation of excellence, leadership, and community pride."
With the foundation laid in 2025, and a strong recruiting class entering the 2026 season, the Racers are poised to build on their historic success, striving for even greater achievements in the seasons ahead.
