Racers Drop Midweek Matchup to Middle Tennessee

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Murray State baseball team fell 5-2 to Middle Tennessee, snapping its eight-game winning streak.
Murray State (10-3) was held to just one hit in the contest. Kristofer Hokenson delivered that lone hit, an RBI single that drove in the first run of the game for the Racers. The performance marked the first time since March 19, 2021, against Jacksonville State that the Racers were held to one hit or fewer in a regular-season game.
In a closely contested pitching duel, the Murray State staff limited Middle Tennessee (9-3) to just two hits through seven innings. The Blue Raiders broke through in the eighth, recording three hits and capitalizing on two Murray State errors to secure the victory.
Carter Boyd made his first start on the mound for the Racers, throwing three innings. He struck out one batter and allowed just one hit, a solo home run in the second inning. Dylan Zentko took the loss, his first of the year, allowing three runs, only one earned, on three hits in the eighth inning.
Murray State looks to bounce back this weekend when the team travels to Orlando, Florida, for a three-game series against UCF.
