Prospective Student-Athlete - Transfer Information
Student-athletes typically fall into one of the categories listed below. After reviewing the information that is applicable to you, it is advised that you follow the recommended course of action to ensure your eligibility is not jeopordized.

No History of Intercollegiate Athletics Participation or Two-Year Junior College Transfer
Individuals will need to register with the NCAA Eligibility Center. The Murray State Athletics Compliance Office will also need a copy of your academic transcript from your previous institution to certify your academic eligibility. A permission to contact release is not necessary.
Current Student-Athlete at a Four-Year Institution
Individuals interested transferring must obtainwritten permission to contact release from their current institution. Once this release has been obtained, you maycontact a member of the Athletics Compliance Office to send this release. Do not contact anyone, coach or administrator,at Murray State prior to receiving this release.
The general transfer rule requires all student-athletes to not compete their first year at the new institution as they serve the NCAA One-Year Residency Requirement per bylaw 14.5.1. There are exceptions to this rule and student-athletes should consult their institutional compliance office to see if they meet one of the exceptions.
Transferring toMurray State from anOhio Valley Conference School- OVC Article 11.2
Ohio Valley Conference Bylaws states: A student-athlete residing (or who has resided) at a Conference institution and who was recruited (per NCAA Bylaw 13.02) or who received athletically-related financial aid or who practiced or competed at that institution shall not be eligible at another member institution unless that student fulfills the following conditions at the certifying institution: (1) attends the second institution for one academic year (excluding summer school), (2) forfeits one for the four years of eligibility allowed under NCAA regulations, (3) receives no athletically-related aid in his or her first year of residency, (4) does not practice or compete in his or her first year of residency.
Exception for OVC Transfers
If the athletics director of the Conference institution that the student-athlete first attended provides written release on an NCAA release form for the student-athlete to transfer to another Conference institution then the student-athlete will be immediately eligible for aid, practice and competition only if he or she is otherwise eligible under NCAA and OVC legislation.
