Malone Smith enters his first season as the volunteer assistant coach with Murray State. He will assist the offense, coach outfielders, and run the on-campus recruiting.

Prior to Murray State, Smith was an assistant coach at Walters State Community College for two years. At Walters State they made two consecutive Junior College World Series appearances finishing with a record of 61-7, 7th in the nation (2020-21) and 60-7, 3rd in the nation (2021-22).

At Walters State, Smith worked with the Catchers where he helped three different catchers achieve Division 1 scholarships and one other to Division 2. One of which earned TSSAA All-Conference Honors in the 2022 season.

The Nashville, Tennessee native played baseball at Kansas City Kansas Community College.

After his time in Kansas he finished his degree at Florida State University with a bachelor's in Commercial Entrepreneurship.
