Kristen Emerling is currently in her second season as an assistant coach with Murray State softball. She arrived in Murray after spending one season as an assistant coach at Division III Elmira.
In her first season as pitching coach, Emerling led pitchers CheyAnne Gaskey and Mason Robinson to the two highest single-season win totals in school history at 20 and 15, respectively. Under Emerling's instruction, the 2015 staff posted a team ERA of 2.99, which was third-best in the OVC and the second best average in school history.
Emerling was a four-year member of the Binghamton Bearcats softball team, where she was a two-time America East All-Conference honoree. In 2010, she set the school record for most wins in a single season, in addition to posting the second lowest ERA in the America East.
Her success continued in the classroom as she was named to the America East Academic Honor Roll all four seasons. In her final season with the Bearcats, she earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-American Scholar Athlete honors.
Aside from her collegiate experience, Emerling has been a private pitching instructor for several years in the Memphis and Mid-South area. She also worked as an assistant coach at Houston High School in her hometown of Germantown, Tennessee. In addition for three summers, she served as the assistant coach of the highly competitive Germantown Lady Red Devils 14U travel ball team.
