Randi Wilson enters her first season as a full-time member of the Murray State softball coaching staff. She has spent the last year and a half as a graduate assistant with the program.
“I am really excited and praise God that we have the opportunity to promote Randi to our first assistant position,” head coach Jay Pyron said. “I am really thankful at how things have worked out on our staff and it’s a really great situation for our student-athletes. Randi has been incredibly loyal to me and the program and cares a great deal for our team. She is someone that the players can really trust and lean on for matters on the field and far beyond the game of softball.”
Wilson will help coordinate individual player conditioning and will be in charge of organizing camps and recruiting while running the team’s community service program.
On the field, she will work with the catchers and will work with the offense with an emphasis on hitting.
She was a member of the Ouachita Baptist softball team from 2005-09, helping it to its first post-season appearance.
She helped the Racers make their second consecutive Ohio Valley Championship appearance in 2011.
Wilson graduated with a bachelor of arts in secondary education, art and kinesiology, and was named an NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete in 2009.
“Randi has done an incredible job here in a year and a half and has all of the qualities that I seek when hiring an assistant,” Pyron added. “She is incredibly hard working and passionate about the game and our players. I feel very lucky to have Randi by my side helping me to continue to grow our program and care for our players.”
