The CFSB Center is currently undergoing an eight-figure renovation that will completely reimagine the facility. The project is on schedule to be ready for the 2026-27 basketball seasons.
The CFSB Center, originally known as the Regional Special Events Center, opened in the fall of 1998 following the completion of construction that June. The facility was made possible through an $18 million commitment from the Kentucky State Legislature, along with a $2 million contribution from Murray State University. Since opening, the arena has become a centerpiece for the Purchase Area of western Kentucky, serving not only as the home of Racer Basketball but also as a premier venue for high school basketball playoffs, concerts, trade shows and Murray State commencement ceremonies.
Throughout its history, the CFSB Center has continued to evolve with significant upgrades. In 2009, Murray State became the first institution in the Ohio Valley Conference to install video boards in its arena. The following year, the facility was renamed the CFSB Center, and a new basketball floor—later used in the NCAA Tournament—was installed. In 2014, the court received a refreshed paint scheme to reflect Murray State's updated athletic branding and logo.
The CFSB Center is also home to first-class facilities that support Murray State's student-athletes. Both the men's and women's basketball programs utilize modern locker room suites featuring private locker areas with individual cubicles, a theater-style ready room for film study, a spacious television lounge and a dedicated kitchen for each team. In addition, student-athletes have access to a state-of-the-art, 3,000-square-foot weight room located within the arena. The facility serves the men's and women's basketball programs, as well as Murray State's men's and women's golf teams and women's tennis program, providing a centralized training space that supports year-round athletic development.
