Charles Allen – Track, 1962-1963, 1964-1965

Allen, a hurdler and long jumper on the track team was one of the most decorated athletes in the history of the program.
As a freshman in 1962, he won OVC titles.
He set set Murray State records in the low hurdles and long jump and he tied the record in the high hurdles.
In 1963, he missed all of the season with injury.
He returned as a dominant talent in 1964 and won OVC titles at high hurdles and intermediate hurdles, both MSU records.
He was also part of the OVC champion for MSU in the 440x4 relay.
In the 1965 OVC meet, he won the intermediate hurdles in record time and even though he finished second in the OVC in the high hurdles, his 14.2 time was a record and it still stands.
His best career performances at Murray State was a 14.2 in the highs hurdles, 37.1 in the 330 intermediate hurdles, 24.3 in the low hurdles, 23 feet, 5 inches in the long jump, and 44 feet, 10 inches in the triple jump.
He helped set the MSU record for the 4x440 replay at 41.2 and a mile relay at 3:13.6.
After his time at MSU, Allen served in the United States Air Force.
