Chris Pigott – Golf, 1969-1972
One of the top men’s golfers in MSU history. He played under Coach Buddy Hewitt from 1969-1972 and is the last Racer golfer to be named an All-American. He placed fifth at the Mid-West Invitational in 1969 (72-69-141) and was runner up in the OVC golf championships as Murray finished second. Placed first at 1970 Mid-South Invitational (69-74-143), where team tied for first. He placed second at 1970 OVC tournament (74-76-71-221). In 1971 he was named OVC Golfer of the Year after winning the tournament (73-69-70-212) and the team taking first. He placed second in the 1972 OVC tournament (71-72-78-221). Pigott, who graduated from MSU in 1972, played professional golf from 1972-1980. In addition to playing on the PGA, South African and Asian Tours, he qualified for the U.S. Open at Winged Foot. From 1972-1978, he was the top player in the Middle Atlantic PGA Section. Currently, Pigott is in private business and residing in Clarksville, MD.
