Heather Samuel

Heather Samuel – Women’s Track, 1991-1994
- in 100-meter dash in NCAA Championshipth1994 All-American(Outdoor), finished 6
- Named OVC Women’s Track Athlete of the year in 1992, 1993, 1994
- Currently holds OVC records in the 100-meter dash (:11.00) set in 1994 and 200-meter dash(:23.10) set in 1994.
Holds three MSU outdoor records (100, 200, and 400-meter relay) - Won seven OVC individual sprint championships over three year span.
- Since graduation from Murray State, has served the Antigua government as the Sports Development and Education Officer.
- Competed in the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and also in 2000 in Sydney.
- Was ranked as high as fifth in the World at one time in 2000 for the 100M.
- Represented Antigua at World Athletic Championships and the World Indoor Championships in 1995, 1997, 1999 and 2003.
- Competed at the World Student Games in Japan in 1995.
- Won gold, silver and bronze medals at the Central American and Caribbean Games in 1995, 1997, 1999 and in 2002 won Antigua's only medal at the Commonwealth Game in El Salvador.
- Honored in 1996 with the “Sweet Cry Freedom” award for outstanding achievement in athletics in Antigua.
- Also honored to take the salute at Antigua's National Youth Rally to celebrate 15th Independence Anniversary. She was the first sports personality to have done so.
- Heather resides in St. John’s Antigua West Indies and is employed by the Ministry of Education.
