- Is the fifth Racer football coach to be inducted into the MSU Hall of Fame as of 2018.
- Coached the Racers for four seasons and ended with a record of 31-16 mark (.660) with back-to-back OVC championships and 1-AA playoff appearances in 1995 and 1996.
- During the Nutt era, the Racers had three OVC Player of the Year picks with 31 All-OVC selections and seven All-America selections.
- Nutt is third all-time at Murray State in winning percentage behind only Mike Gottfried (1978-80, 3 seasons, 22-11-1 .662) and MSU’s first coach Carlisle Cutchin (1925-30, 6 seasons, 37-11-4 .750).
- Coached the Racers to two of the best seasons in program history in 1995 and 1996 when MSU won a total of 22 games and twice won back-to-back undefeated OVC championships. MSU was 22-3 overall and 16-0 in OVC play.
- His 1995 team was MSU’s second undefeated team in the regular season at 11-0 as they joined the 1933 team who was the only other perfect team in MSU history in going 9-0.
- Nutt is the only MSU coach to have two double-digit winning streaks. They started the 1995 season 11-0 and won 11 in a row in 1996 after losing the season opener.
- MSU’s two undefeated OVC titles in 1995 and 1996 are two of the three in program history. The first was in 1979.
- MSU’s 34-6 win at home over Western Illinois (11-30-1996) is the only postseason win in program history as of 2018.
- Arrived to coach the Racers in 1993 and quickly made MSU relevant in the OVC with eight league wins in his first two seasons after MSU had won only three over the previous three seasons.
- In 1995, 15,711 watched the Racers beat EKU 17-7 and clinch the OVC title in front of the fourth-largest attendance in Roy Stewart Stadium history.
