Phil Bryan - University Administration 1974-2001

Phil Bryan was Inducted into the MSU Athletics Hall of Fame to the Hall of Distinction area in 2016.
Started his 27-year career at Murray State as Director of School Relations in 1974.
Named Dean of Admissions & Registrar in 1982.
Phil always felt a tremendous responsibility to the students at Murray State and to his colleagues.
He cared deeply about helping students and student-athletes all the way through their graduation day.
As the person who was in charge of a student-athlete’s admission, initial eligibility or continued progress/eligibility, Phil was a big part of every team at MSU by becoming sanctioned by the NCAA to certify all MSU incoming student-athletes.
Bryan's tremendous contributions to Murray State University and the athletics department are still being felt today. He was a big part of the success of various Racer teams including being on the ground floor of NCAA athletics academic reform in the late 1990's.
He served on the OVC Registrars Committee from 1982-1990 and served as chairman for a period of time during his tenure on the committee.
During 1992, he served as a Fulbright Scholar to Germany and Czechoslovakia.
After retiring in 2001, Bryan was given an honorary doctorate from MSU.
Phil continued in a part-time roll for several more years at MSU, assisting in the registrar's office, academic affairs and the president's office. His main post-retirement efforts focused on university ratings as it pertained to US News & World Report and other publications.
Was an influencer in the growth of Murray State University and handed out more than 25,000 diplomas in his career.
Graduated from Kentucky State 1964 and earned his masters' degree from Indiana State in 1970.
