MSU Second At OVC Preview Meet

Sophomore Megan Rainville earned a third-place finish to lead the Murray State women's cross country team to second place overall in the Ohio Valley Conference Preview meet hosted by MSU at the Futures Golf Club in Puryear, Tenn.
Southeast Missouri won the team title with 30 points, followed by MSU in second with 37 points and Tennessee State in third with 63 points.
Rainville, a sophomore from Greenville, Ind., covered the 5-kilometer course in 19 minutes, 29 seconds, just ahead of teammate Lauren Wilson, a sophomore from Louisville, Ky., in fourth with a 19:34.
SEMO's Kaci Pilcher won the individual title with a time of 19:14.
MSU's Heather Vincent, a sophomore from Hawesville, Ky., earned sixth with a time of 19:36, followed by junior Audra Herdon in 11th with a 19:47.
Freshman Amber Bivens (Hawesville, Ky.) was 18th with a 20:59, followed by sophomore Brittany Renfro (Louisville, Ky.) in 21st with a 21:24 and freshman Betsy Hall (Charleston, Ill.) was 25th with a 23:02.
Up next, Murray State will compete in the SEMO Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 18 in Cape Girardeau, Mo., before hosting the OVC Championships two weeks later.
